This is a 2.4 GHz wireless module integrating a cutting-edge 32 bit ARM Cortex-M3 core and a state-of-art radio transceiver. The advanced ARM architecture makes it easy to develop IEEE 802.15.4 / ZigBee / 6LoWPAN low-power applications to add wireless connectivity and multi-hop networking into existing products.
Notable features include:
- 32 bit ARM Cortex M3 with 512 kB FLASH and 32 kB of SRAM (TI CC2538)
- RF output power up to +20 dBm (100 mW)
- U.FL connector for external antenna (or integrated PCB antenna EMB-Z2538PA/IA)

The EMB-Z2538PA ships programmed with Embit firmware which allows the use of the module as a simple, ready-to-use modem (using AT-like commands over UART; see EBI protocol page for more information).
The evaluation kit, EMB-Z2538PA-EVK, is strongly recommended to customers willing to develop their own firmware applications, since the kit provides all tools required to download custom firmware to the module.
